About
I'd like to share with you a bit about my own journey through midlife and beyond and why I am so passionate about working with women at this stage of life.
Like many thousands of women, I stumbled through menopause in complete ignorance about what was happening to my body. To me, menopause simply meant the end of periods and hot flushes.
However, throughout my 40s and well into my 50s, I experienced a wide variety of
symptoms, including: low energy, brain fog, aching joints, to name but a few, yet I had no idea they were connected to perimenopause and menopause. The medical practitioners I turned to for answers were equally ill informed. Not once did anyone mention the role of declining oestrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, or how this hormonal shift can impact a woman’s short and long-term health, let alone the impact that stress, poor sleep, food choices and exercise can have on the way we experience menopause.
With no better explanation at the time, I assumed these changes were just part of the
inevitable downward spiral of aging. Or maybe it was simply that I was spinning too many plates at once. Like so many women in midlife, I found myself navigating menopause while also juggling the hormonal rollercoaster of teenage children, caring for aging parents, and showing up for a job I loved.
The symptoms continued well into my 50s, evolving over time. It was only when symptoms became so bad that I took matters into my own hands. I began researching into menopause, attending courses, and talking to other women—empowering myself with the knowledge I wished I’d had ten years earlier. Suddenly, everything began to make sense.
But along with the clarity came frustration that I had only just discovered this vital information, rather than when I first needed it. So now, my true passion is to help women in midlife to receive the support and information they truly deserve, in order to thrive through menopause not merely survive!
Menopause can be challenging for many women, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Knowledge is power, and understanding what’s happening to your body allows you to take back control of your health and well-being. You can then look forward to the post menopause phase of life which, in some parts of the world is referred to as a Second Spring, a time of renewal, transformation, and possibility. I truly believe this can be a period of re-emergence for women, where we can step into our power with renewed passion and vibrancy. So if you are trying to figure out how to navigate your midlife journey and beyond, I’d love to support you.
